In the futurist sci-fi thriller “Voyagers” from director/screenwriter Neil Burger (“The Upside” and "Divergent"), Colin Farrell stars as lead space commander Richard Alling who takes a group of “specialty bred” kids on a mission in search of a new, distant planet that is capable of inhabiting human life.

The reason for the journey is because Earth is rife with many climate issues and seems headed for self-destruction. Now, it’s up to this young crew to help save humanity. The problem is this new planet will take them 86 years to get to.

Commander Alling (Farrell) and his assistants have put a lot of thought into this daring adventure. As the kids grow older on board, he expects the third generation will be the new colonizers.

Things start out well enough. Everyone is getting along and they’re on course without any complications.

However, that changes when the teen’s team leader Christopher Rebbs (a particularly good Tye Sheridan, “The Night Clerk” and “X-Men: Dark Phoenix”) and his friend Zac (a crazed Fionn Whitehead, “Dunkirk”) do some digging around and discover that Commander Alling has been drugging them with a chemical drink that makes them submissive and even suppresses their physical desires.

That ticks them off. When Christopher confronts Commander Alling about the drink, he basically tells him that the mixture is really for their own good during the mission.

Christopher and Zac don’t buy it and decide they aren’t going to drink it anymore. They insist the rest of the group toss it too. Once they do, they become extremely aggressive, hostile, and incredibly horny.

After an incident involving Commander Alling, the young crew and it’s vocal and fearless leader, Sela (Lily-Rose Depp, “Crisis”) must somehow band together since their biggest fear isn’t an alien attack on their Humanitas spaceship, but rather the wrath they begin to unleash on each other.

“Voyagers” is an exciting and fun-filled trip.
