BELTON MOURAS JR. EXPANDS HIS CREATIVE REACH WITH MUSIC AND FILM

Multimedia artist Belton Mouras Jr. has released a new smooth jazz single titled "Dynamo." The music video showcases the pianist, keyboardist, and composer performing around the world in international cities including New York City, Paris, London, Dubai, Rio de Janeiro, and Tokyo. During a phone interview with N2Entertainment.net, Mouras Jr. said he composed "Dynamo" while writing music for his first feature film, "Fingers: The Vegan Zombie Musical," which expands on the 2024 comedy short "Fingers: The World's First Vegan Zombie." "We received such positive feedback from the comedy short, 'Fingers: The World's First Vegan Zombie,' which garnered more than three million views, that we wanted to have even more fun with the concept," Mouras Jr. said. "When I first wrote the musical, I was a full vegetarian, and then I was vegan for about three or four months. I was joking around with friends and asked, 'What if zombies could be vegan?' It's an oxymoron to have a vegan zombie, but I thought it would be fun to use meat as a parody while also poking fun at ourselves."

The movie features an impressive ensemble cast, including Broadway performer Grace Field and Sacramento opera vocalists Omari Tau and Vanessa Martucci. Two-time Emmy Award-winning Bay Area jazz musician Tony Saunders--who is featured on the single "Dynamo"--and Billboard chart-topping flutist Althea Rene also make cameo appearances.

Mouras Jr. said he enjoyed filming "Fingers: The Vegan Zombie Musical" in Sacramento because of his love for the area. "It's a great place and offers so much," he said. "I was born in Lodi, California, my dad was in the military, and we also lived on base at Fort Hood, Texas. But Sacramento--specifically Carmichael--is home sweet home."

The multi-talented artist keeps busy creating music, films, and a variety of artistic projects under his Belton Mouras Entertainment umbrella. Mouras Jr. has released a half-dozen contemporary jazz charting singles that blend jazz, R&B, pop, and Latin influences. "Dynamo" is his second collaboration with Tony Saunders following the success of their single "Get It." He said "Dynamo" represents the creative spark that fuels artistic expression. "Whether I'm composing music, making films, or telling stories, I'm inspired by the idea that one creative spark can travel far beyond where it began. 'Dynamo' imagines that journey on a global scale, celebrating the power of music to cross borders and unite cultures."

Although best known for his smooth jazz recordings, Mouras Jr.'s first venture into country music may have surprised longtime fans, but it isn't as unexpected as it might seem. His Top 10 debut country single, "Hold My Hand With Your Heart," continues to climb the World Indie Music Charts. He said growing up, his Cajun father exposed him to both jazz and country music during summers spent in Louisiana, experiences that helped shape the classically trained musician's artistic voice.

On "Hold My Hand With Your Heart," Mouras Jr. sings while playing piano, keyboards, and programming the drums. The song becomes a duet through a vocal exchange with singer Ann Roach, who brings a female perspective to the relationship narrative. Pedal steel guitarist Pete Grant and guitarist Arlyn Anderson add authentic country textures to the recording.

Whether it's smooth contemporary jazz, country music, zombie musicals, comedy shorts, or feature films, Belton Mouras Jr. continues to explore new creative avenues while offering audiences a little something for everyone.
