EDITOR'S NOTE: Due to the wildfires in Los Angeles, CBS decided to postpone the debut of "Hollywood Squares" which was slated for Jan. 9. The show will now air Jan. 16 at 8 p.m. (ET/PT).

As a kid, I loved watching "The Hollywood Squares" with my mother. Hosted by the late Peter Marshall, the show became even more entertaining for me when Marlon Jackson of the Jackson Five made a fun guest appearance.

However, few celebrities had quicker quips on that show than the irreverent Paul Lynde, who ruled the center square from 1968 to 1979. My mom's laughter every time Lynde delivered a punchline turned me into a lifelong fan of "The Hollywood Squares."

Over the years, "The Hollywood Squares" has had many iterations. In 1983, it ran alongside "Match Game" in a hybrid series hosted by Jon Bauman. After Marshall's retirement, the show returned twice in syndication, first with John "cute dimpled" Davidson (1986-1989) and later with Tom Bergeron (1998-2004). There was even "Hip Hop Squares" on MTV2 with Peter Rosenberg, a "Nashville Squares" on CMT with Bob Saget, and more recently, "Celebrity Squares" on VH1 with DC Young Fly.

Now, "The Hollywood Squares" is back again. This time, Nate Burleson (co-host of "CBS Mornings" and "NFL Today") will host a rebooted, "Hollywood Squares" set to premiere on Jan. 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT for the first three weeks, before moving to Wednesday nights starting Jan. 29 as part of CBS Game Night. Award-winning actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore will take her place as the iconic center square.

CBS describes the format of the "Hollywood Squares" much like the original show which debuted on NBC October 17, 1966 and ran until 1980. Two contestants play tic-tac-toe to win money and prizes. The 'board' for the game is a vertical stack of open-faced cubes, each occupied by a celebrity seated at a desk and facing the contestants. The celebrities are asked questions, and the contestants judge the legitimacy of their answers to win the game.

Some of the "Hollywood Squares" celebrity guests slated to appear include Tyra Banks, Julie Bowen, Yvette Nicole Brown, Whitney Cummings, Akbar Gbajabiamila, Tiffany Haddish, Oliver Hudson, Pete Holmes, Gabriel Iglesias, Jo Koy, Jay Leno, Justin Long, Kevin Nealon, RuPaul, Andrew Rannells, Kristen Schaal, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Sheryl Underwood and Jimmy O. Yang. More guests are scheduled to appear later.

"Hollywood Squares," is produced by Jesse Collins for Jesse Collins Entertainment and Drew Barrymore and Flower Films, Inc. Paramount+ Premium subscribers will have access to stream live via the live feed of their local CBS affiliate on the service as well as on demand. Essential-tier subscribers will have access to on-demand the day after the episode airs.
