If there's one movie that demands to be experienced in D-Box immersive seating, it's "
Twisters."
Directed by
Lee Isaac Chung ("Minari"), this thrilling standalone sequel to the 1996 film "Twister," which starred Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt, will blow you away.
In “Twisters,” Daisy Edgar-Jones ("Where the Crawdads Sing") stars as Kate Carter, a PhD student in Oklahoma on the verge of a groundbreaking discovery: a system that could potentially tame destructive tornadoes.
Alongside her boyfriend Jeb (Daryl McCormack, "The Lesson") and their eager crew—including Praveen (Nik Dodani, "The A-Frame") and Addy (Kiernan Shipka, "Longlegs")—Kate fearlessly tracks tornadoes across Oklahoma's untamed landscapes.
Tragedy strikes when Jeb and several friends are lost to a devastating tornado, leaving Kate struggling to rebuild her life in New York City as a meteorologist for the National Weather Service. However, when her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos, "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts"), who survived the tornado/twister, visits her with a compelling proposition to chase a series of impending tornadoes in Oklahoma, Kate reluctantly returns to the field with Javi and his business partner Scott (David Corenswet, "The Greatest Hits").
Plus, now that Kate is back in Oklahoma, she can stop and visit her mother, Cathy (Maura Tierney, "The Iron Claw").
While in Oklahoma, Kate crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Glen Powell, TV's "Hit Man"), a handsome, cocky cowboy and influencer storm chaser who lives for this crazy tornado/twister stuff.
Tyler leads a popular YouTube crew that includes Dexter the scientist (Tunde Adebimpe, TV's "Strange Planet"), Dani the mechanic (Katy O' Brian, TV's "The Mandalorian"), drone operator Lily (Sasha Lane, TV's "The Crowded Room"), Boone the videographer (Brandon Perea, "Nope"), and skittish London journalist Ben (Harry Hadden-Paton, "Downton Abbey: A New Era").
Sparks fly between Kate and Tyler even as they clash over storm-chasing tactics amid the impending massive tornadoes.
"Twisters," penned by screenwriters Mark L. Smith ("The Boys in the Boat"), Joseph Kosinski ("Top Gun: Maverick"), and Michael Crichton ("Westworld"), pays homage to its predecessor while carving its own thrilling path.
From heart-pounding scenes in an in-ground swimming pool to nostalgic moments in a movie theater, "Twisters" captivates with its stunning visuals and a storyline that balances geeky weather humor with fierce action and makes "Twisters" a force of nature all its own.
