"All-American: Homecoming" returns for its third and final season on The CW Network July 8 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT).

As a huge fan of "All-American Homecoming," which is a spin-off of "All-American," I've been eagerly counting down the days to discover the fate of Simone Hicks (the terrific Geffri Maya, TV's "Snowfall").

The burning question on everyone's mind: Who will Simone choose as her partner? Will it be the charismatic Damon Sims (Peyton "Alex" Smith), or perhaps Jesse JR Raymond (Sylvester Powell of "Five Points")? And let's not overlook Orlando "Lando" Johnson (Martin Bobb-Semple, "One of Us is Lying"), whose allure as the cocky, yet endearing pitcher, briefly captured Simone's attention too.

Throughout its run, "All-American: Homecoming" has illuminated the vibrant life at HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities). This final curtain call promises to deliver a tapestry of drama, weaving in narratives centered around Thea Mays (Camille Hyde, "Mindwash") and Keisha McCalla (Netta Walker, TV's "The Big Leap").

The show's creator Nkechi Okoro Carroll, alongside her team of talented writers, have consistently crafted episodes that resonate deeply with viewers. I'm sure that this season will too. Afterall, Simone faces a pivotal challenge that threatens to derail her tennis aspirations.

The "All-American: Homecoming" finale should be a real doozy. Bidding farewell to this series will be tough. But all good things must come to an end, and "All-American: Homecoming" has been an exceptionally good show; one that transcended the ordinary.

So, as I have from day one, I'll be rooting for Bringston University to the very end. Go Lions!

Editor's Note: Don't miss the premiere of "All-American: Homecoming" on July 8 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), on The CW Network.

IN OTHER TV NEWS:

Apple TV+ will premiere its ten-episode darkly comedic mystery series "Sunny," July 10 with the first two episodes, followed by one new episode every Wednesday through September 4.

"Sunny" stars Rashida Jones as Suzie, an American woman living in Kyoto, Japan, whose life is upended when her husband and son disappear in a mysterious plane crash. As "consolation" she's given Sunny, one of a new class of domestic robots made by her husband's electronics company.

Though at first Suzie resents Sunny's attempts to fill the void in her life, gradually they develop an unexpected friendship, as together they uncover the dark truth of what really happened to Suzie's family, becoming dangerously enmeshed in a world Suzie never knew existed.

Produced for Apple TV+ by A24, "Sunny" is written, and executive produced by Katie Robbins, through her shingle Babka Pictures. Lucy Tcherniak executive produces for Poppycock Pictures. A24 and Jones also serve as executive producers. The series is based on the book "Dark Manual" by Japan-based award-winning Irish writer Colin O'Sullivan.

"Sunny" marks the second collaboration for Apple, A24 and Jones following the global premiere of Sofia Coppola's acclaimed film "On the Rocks." Jones also recently starred in Apple's global hit series "Silo," series based on Hugh Howey's New York Times best-selling trilogy of dystopian books.
