Jason Statham made his acting debut in director Guy Ritchie’s 1998 comedy caper, “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.” Statham followed that up with “Snatch” (2000) and “Revolver” in 2005.

Now, the dynamic duo has joined forces again with their latest movie “Wrath of Man” which is a remake of the 2004 French movie “Cash Truck” “(Le Convoyeur” ).

With “Wrath of Man,” Ritchie, who also co-wrote the movie with Marn Davies and Ivan Atkinson ( “The Gentlemen”), shows he still knows how to have a bloody good time. He delivers an action-packed thriller that’s tailor-made for Statham.

In “Wrath of Man,” Statham plays Patrick “H” Hill, a security guard for an armored truck company in Los Angeles. The group of men he works with are skeptical of him coming aboard particularly his boss Bullet (Holt McCallany, “Greenland”) and his assistant (a terrific Josh Hartnett, TV’s “Die Hart”).

Everything about “H” is average. His shooting is good, not great, and he just doesn’t seem to be one of the guys. Well, of course “H” isn’t.
There’s a method to his madness and a reason why he’s volunteered to join the force. It sure isn’t for the money.

Things heat up quickly when “H” and the gang make a run and five guys try to rob the armored truck. “H” kills them all without breaking a sweat. How’s that for average?

Now, everyone is wondering whether they should fear him or worship him. “H” has some history going for him and his co-workers find out soon enough what’s up. A lot of the armored drivers, like Jackson (Jeffrey Donovan, “Let Him Go”), Carlos (Laz Alonso, TV’s “The Boys” ) and especially Jan (Scott Eastwood, “The Outpost”) aren’t who they claim to be.

Normally movies with jumping narratives annoy me because it often detracts from film. Not the case here. In fact, the back-and-forth timeline really fuels the story and adds to the intrigue.

“Wrath of Man” isn’t content to be a run-of-the-mill heist movie. It switches things up and turns into a solid revenge thriller. In addition, you can always count on Jason Statham to deliver an exciting, action packed drama. With “Wrath of Man” he knocks this bad boy out of the park.
