Ricky Gervais will host the 77th Golden Globe Awards for a fifth time which is a record. The outrageously funny British comedian previously hosted the Golden Globes from 2010 to 2012 and again in 2016.

The Golden Globe Awards will broadcast live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Jan. 5 at 5 p.m. (PT/ET) on NBC.

With Gervais, you never know what to expect which hopefully will make for a political incorrect and entertaining evening.

In addition to celebrating the best in movies and television, The Hollywood Foreign Press Association will honor multi-award winning talk show host and humanitarian Ellen DeGeneres with The Carol Burnett Award.

The prestigious award is presented to people who have made outstanding contributions in television and beyond. The very first Carol Burnett Award was actually given to Burnett.

DeGeneres, host of the successful The Ellen DeGeneres Show, has used her platform to not only entertain audiences but also to help those in need.

Another big highlight of the night will feature Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks presented with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, an annual honor given to talented individuals who have made a lasting impact on the film industry.

Hanks, 63, received a Golden Globe nod for ?Best Supporting Actor? for his stunning portrayal of the iconic children?s TV host Fred Rogers in Marielle Heller?s ?A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.?

The DeMille award is chosen by the HFPA board of directors. Hanks is among some great company as other recipients of the DeMille include: Walt Disney, Jack Warner, Darryl F. Zanuck and last year?s recipient, the amazing Jeff Bridges (?Hell Or High Water?).

It should be quite a night. So, be sure to watch the 77th Golden Globe Awards Jan. 5 at 5 p.m. (PT/ET) on NBC.

By the way, Netflix leads both the film and television Golden Globe nominations. That's a first. Take a look at all the Golden Globe nominees.
